Current Position
In 2007 Kamcheyenne Limousin had 23 calves from 22 mothers. Our first set of twins and again not one ( not even the twins ) required assistance. The Stud still maintains its Murray Grey Cross females as I believe this mix is an excellent one for the commercial sector and the Limousin traits come through very strongly. This herd although only 10 strong I believe assist to keep me focussed on any breeder’s true aim and that is – Beef Production I also believe that I can, as a breeder, benefit the Commercial Sector more easily and effectively if, I also run a commercial herd. Over the 4 years of breeding French pure and Pure Limousin cattle the stud has used an artificial insemination program to bring a range of bloodlines into the herd. Docility and growth has been the main focus. Polled lines have also been utilised. Some of the bloodlines used :
- Premier Captain Snooze
- Timor Poll Tailor
- Sundowner Fancy
- Refstrup tabias
- WhiteLakes Vision
- Harris
- Ionesco
In 2007 the stud split the herd to run with 3 bulls from the first 3 of bloodlines outlined above and in 2008 expects 31 calves to hit the ground.
